Tannehill State Park

Daniel, Sawyer, Bryleigh, and I took a family trip to Tannehill State Park today. I am amazed by the beautiful places we have right here in Alabama. I really felt like I had taken a trip back in time as I watched the blacksmith work at his cabin and saw the water powered grist mill in action. I crave the simplicity of this era.

We hiked the nature trails and saw a few very busy squirrels. We splashed around in the frigid, babbling creek and watched some fishermen cast their bait over and over again hoping for a fish to tug at their lines. For this one day, I didn't have a single worry. I was carefree!

If you are searching for a beautiful, simple place to visit, I absolutely recommend Tannehill State Park. Wear your tennis shoes! There are several hiking trails to keep you busy and in touch with the nature around you.

AMSTI Training 2009-2010

I am super excited about finishing my last year of AMSTI training. Today was my last day, and I am exhausted and a bit overwhelmed. However, I am extremely excited about all of the cool things my class will be doing this year. In math, we will be doing so many more hands-on activities, and in science, we will be doing units on microworlds, variables, ecosystems, and solar energy. I can't wait to see how AMSTI changes me as a teacher this year, and I can't wait to see how it changes my students.

I've had a very busy summer, but I am ready to get back to school. Sawyer is headed to the 8 Year Old Dizzy Dean World Series in Southaven, Mississippi next week. I am having a great summer! I have read some pretty great books this summer. My booklist includes The Shack, The Vampire Diaries series, and Evermore. I have also been taking college classes this summer. I am working toward my Ed.S in Elementary Education.

I hope everyone is having a great summer!
